1, No screens January
Since we have started staying home, I’ve definitely allowed too much screen time. For the kids, we are doing no screens at all. For us parents, we are limiting our screen time.
For more on what this no screens month looks like, and how I am dealing with the “detox” phase, check out this post. ( link later)
2. No spend January
This is just what it sounds like! It’s become a pretty popular amongst financial groups and social media, but everyone seems to do it a little different.
For more on what a no spend month looks like for us, and ways to combating wanting to spend, check out this post ( link later)
3. Establishing a laundry routine
May laundry mountain be conquered in 2021. I feel like I’ve tried every single suggested laundry routine out there and I just don’t stick to anything long enough. I cannot seem to wash/dry/fold/put away in one day, even just one load! For the month of January I am trying this cycle- day 1 wash/dry day 2 fold/put away and REPEAT. I will update how/if this works for us.
4. Reading at least one book a month
I used to be an avid reader. I hope with no screens January/no spend January I will “find” more time to read. I was planning to read “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up” by Marie Kondo, recommended by my mama, but I haven’t borrowed it from her yet. For now, I’m listening to “Simplicity Parenting” on Audible.
5. Self Care
It’s 2021, and I am not making unrealistic resolutions that will not be kept. I’m not picking a word of the year. Sometimes life happens and I don’t want to set myself up to feel like I’ve failed in any way.
However, I’m focusing on ME this year. I want to be the best person, wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend I can be. To do that, I have to make sure I am filling MY cup. So each month this year I will do one thing that is self care for me, and each month I will continue that, and add another. For January, I am focusing on drinking more water. (btw it’s January 7th and unless you count water premium -hot water poured over ground coffee beans- I haven’t done so great with this one)
